High redshift X – ray galaxy clusters . I . The impact of point sources on the cluster properties

چکیده
Context. The current generation of X-ray observatories like Chandra allows studies with very fine spatial details. It is now possible to resolve X–ray point sources projected into the cluster diffuse emission and exclude them from the analysis to estimate the " correct " X–ray observables. Aims. We wish to verify the incidence of point sources on the cluster thermal emission and to evaluate the impact of their non-thermal emission on the determination of cluster properties. Methods. To these ends we use a sample of 18 high-z (0.250.7 where temperature and luminosity increase up to 24% and 22%, respectively. Conclusions. The conclusions are that point sources should be removed to correctly estimate the cluster properties. However the inclusion of the point sources does not impact significantly the slope and normalization of the L bolT relationship since for each cluster the correction to be applied to T and L bol produces a moderate shift in the L bol –T plane almost parallel to the best-fit of the " correct " L bol –T relation.

Frii Radio Sources in Rich Clusters of Galaxies
A sample of FRII radio sources in rich clusters of galaxies, both at high (z0.5) and low (z0) redshift, has been constructed to study the eeect of environment on radio sources. Comparisons are made between the properties of FRII sources in cluster and non-cluster environments, and between X-ray clusters with and without FRII sources. The principal results are the following: 1. Most low-redshift...

baryonic matter distribution in the large-scale structures is one of the main questions in cosmology. This distribution can provide valuable information regarding the processes of galaxy formation and evolution. On the other hand, the missing baryon problem is still under debate. One of the most important cosmological structures for studying the rate and the distribution of the baryons is gal...
متن کاملRadio Galaxy Selected Clusters at High Redshift and Associated Ero Overdensities
Galaxy clusters at high redshift present a superb opportunity to study galaxy evolution, with large galaxy samples at fixed distances. Several lines of evidence point towards large formation redshifts and passive evolution for cluster ellipticals. At redshifts larger than z ∼ 0.8, this picture rests on data from only a handful of rich clusters. We have observed four potential clusters to sample...
متن کاملThe XMM-LSS Survey First high redshift galaxy clusters: relaxed and collapsing systems
We present five newly found galaxy clusters at z > 0.6 from the XMM Large-Scale Structure Survey (XMMLSS). All five objects are extended X-ray sources in the XMM images. For three of them we have sufficient spectroscopically confirmed member galaxies that an estimate of the velocity dispersion is possible: XLSSC 001 at z = 0.613 and σV = 867+80 −60 km s, XLSSC 002 at z = 0.772 and σV = 524 −116...
متن کاملHigh redshift FRII radio sources : large - scale X - ray environment
We investigate the properties of the environment around 20 powerful radio galaxies and quasars at redshifts between 0.45 and 1. Using XMM-Newton and Chandra observations we probe the spatial distribution and the temperature of the cluster gas. We find that more than 60 per cent of powerful radio sources in the redshift range of our sample lie in a cluster of X-ray luminosity greater than 10 erg...
